Industry4.0andtheIndustrialInternetofThings(IIoT)hasbecomeoneofthemosttalkedaboutindustrialbusinessconceptsinrecentyears.However,Industry4.0andtheIIoTareoftenpresentedatahighlevelbyconsultantswhoarepresentingfromabusinessperspectivetoexecutiveclients,whichmeanstheunderlyingtechnicalcomplexityisirrelevant.Consultantsfocusonbusinessmodelsandoperationalefficiency,whichisveryattractive,wherefinancialgainsandnewbusinessmodelsarereadilyunderstandabletotheirclients.Unfortunately,thesepresentationsoftenimpressandinvigorateexecutives,whoseethebusinessbenefitsbutfailtorevealtotheclientthetechnicalabstractionofthelower-layercomplexitythatunderpintheIndustrialInternet.
