AManagementController(MC)orBaseboardManagementController(BMC)usuallyrequiresEthernetconnectivityforremotemanagement.Initially,MC’shadadedicatedEthernetporttoachievethisconnectivity.Later,EthernetmanufacturersstartedusingproprietarysidebandinterfacestoprovideamechanismbywhichtheMCcouldshareanEthernetportwiththeOperatingSystem.ThisinterfacewasgenerallybasedupontheI2C/SMBusinterface,buthadaproprietaryprotocol.TheDMTFsetouttocreateanindustrystandardsidebandinterfacethatwouldoperateatamuchgreaterspeedthanSMBusandalleviatesomeoftheburdenonBMCengineerswho,foryears,hadbeenwritingdifferentEthernetcodebasedonwhichmanufacturers’EthernetdevicewasusedastheLOM(LANonMotherboard)fortheserverboard. 本软件ID:10660251
